General Accountant
About This Role
The General Accountant is responsible for managing and maintaining the company's accounting records, ensuring accurate financial reporting, monitoring retail transactions, and ensuring compliance with tax and statutory requirements. The role supports month-end closing, reconciliations, audit requirements, and financial analysis for retail operations.
What You'll Be Doing
- Prepare and post journal entries, maintain the General Ledger, and perform account reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and assist with closing activities.
- Monitor and reconcile sales transactions from stores, e-commerce platforms, and marketplaces.
- Reconcile POS sales, cash collections, credit card transactions, and online payments.
- Review inventory-related accounting transactions and analyze sales, margins, and operating expenses.
- Assist in BIR filings, government reports, audits, and ensure compliance with tax regulations and accounting standards.
- Maintain proper accounting records, ensure compliance with internal controls, identify process improvements, and support special projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy; CPA license is an advantage but not required.
- At least 1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in retail, distribution, FMCG, or multi-branch operations.
- Knowledge and experience in General Ledger, financial reporting, tax compliance/BIR filing, inventory accounting, and sales reconciliation.
- Experience in month-end/year-end closing and internal or external audits is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, Philippine taxation, and statutory compliance.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting software.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail, integrity, confidentiality, and ability to meet deadlines.
